What is Vector Art?

Vector is art made up of points, lines, curves and shapes that are based on mathematical formulas. When you scale a vector image file, there's no loss of quality.  It can be sized to however large or small you need it to be.  It's an excellent tool for putting company logos on business cards or creating large banners and signs.  In the awards industry, vector art is widely used when laser engraving, glass or crystal etching and screen printing.

Any art created with graphics software like Adobe Illustrator(.ai) or CorelDraw(.cdr), would be considered vector art.  Once created these files can then be converted to more widely used file types such as .jpg and .png.  You CAN NOT convert a .jpg or .png to a vector art file and guarantee the file will be usuable for Engraving or Laser Etching.
